The Garage Demise, part 3

We got our buddy, Joe, to come up with his bobcat, which made dirt removal go a LOT faster. He is very good at what he does. I love to watch him work with that thing.
Matt did the digging with Kubby while Joe actually removed the dirt to his dump truck and took it to my inlaws and dumped it. It will be their new veggie patch come spring. (See the Pepsi bottles in the middle left of the picture? That was Joe bait. He loves Pepsi).

Matt terraced the back, and it was calling for rain so we covered it all up with plastic to keep it from washing. It added about 20' of usable space to the back of the house.

The other side of the garage looks like this right now, but this will be where the garage door will go, so it will have to come out sometime in the near future. I'm not sure why he didn't do it all now.The wall that was bowing out so badly, and the exposed outside of the root cellar.Notice that the blocks are all cracked? In part 4, I'll talk a bit about our go-around with the building inspector!!

What a HUGE project! Fun (for us!) to watch the progression.
